Cardiff man makes ‘fake speed van’ to tackle speeding motorists

A Cardiff man has made his own police speed camera van and parked it outside his house to try and stop drivers from speeding on his road.

Kerry Donnelly, 59, bought the ex-police van for £1,500 on eBay and then used black tape to fake a speed camera-style spy window in the back door.

Speeding drivers slam on their brakes after being fooled into believing it is real police on duty in the 30mph zone.

Mr Donelly spoke to Nicola Hendy about the affect the fake speed van is having on his road

A police spokesperson has ruled that Mr. Donelly’s one-man crusade against speed demons is not illegal.
