Ford’s Jari-Matti Latvala has not given up hope of snatching second place in the World Rally Champinship.
The Finn entered Wales Rally GB, which got underway tonight with a superspecial stage around Cardiff Bay, just 11 points behind Citroen driver Sebastien Ogier with 25 points still up for grabs.
The 25-year-old is hoping a strong result will allow him to wrap-up his best World Championship campaign to date on a high note.
Latvala, who has picked up two wins so far this season, said: “At the start of the season I privately set myself a target of finishing in the top three of the championship.
“I am third at the moment, and now I have a chance to take second, so I need a strong result in Wales.”
