Dissolution Day

Next year’s Assembly election campaign will formally start a day earlier than planned. It’s because of the extra bank holiday to mark the royal wedding. An Assembly spokesman has this morning confirmed this, saying:

“Dissolution of the National Assembly will now take place at midnight on 31 March 2011 instead of midnight on 1 April 2011 because there has to be 28 working days between dissolution and the election.”
