Rhondda Cynon Taf Council staff given final job warning

Staff at Rhondda Cynon Taf Council have been told to accept changes to their terms of employment or front line services will have to be cut.

RCT council workers have been told to accept changes to their contracts or risk job losses as the council prepares to make cuts

In an e-mail, the council’s chief executive Keith Griffiths says the council has a multi-million pound financial black hole which needs to be filled.

Unions have accused the council of “bulldozing” through its plans.

Mr Griffiths told staff that savings could be found through closing some front line services with the loss of hundreds of jobs.

GMB officer Gareth Morgan said the council’s consultation with the unions had not been adequate, despite the meetings that had taken place.
