70 jobs to go at biscuit factory

A leading food company is cutting 70 jobs at its factory in south Wales as part of a UK programme of losses which will see more than 400 jobs cut.

Burton’s Foods, which makes brands including Jammie Dodgers and Wagon Wheel, says the redundancies at its site in Llantarnam in Cwmbran are because of the challenging economic environment.

The Unite union has said workers were “devastated” at the news.
