Wales international Gavin Henson could complete a move to French side Toulon by Thursday morning.
Henson, who only made his Saracens debut six weeks ago, would join fellow rugby superstar Jonny Wilkinson at the Top 14 Club.
The reports come just a day after Lee Byrne confirmed he will be playing for Clermont Auvergne from the start of next season. And another fellow Welsh international James Hook will also be plying his trade in France with Perpignan.
Henson has played four matches for Saracens since joining the English Premiership side in October.
Toulon had been planning to try and sign Henson for the start of next season.
But ITV Wales understands there have been positive talks between Toulon and Henson’s representatives and he could be moving to the south of France until the end of the season.
Reports in the French sports newspaper L’Equipe suggest that Toulon urgently need a player to cover at fly-half and they see Henson as the ideal candidate.
L’Equipe have also reported Henson’s representatives met with Toulon’s president Mourad Boudjellal and manager Philippe Saint-Andre for lunch on Wednesday.
Toulon are yet to confirm the former Ospreys star is to join their star-studded squad.
