Cardiff Devils 2-1 Belfast Giants (Belfast win 5-2 on aggregate)

Cardiff Devils beat Belfast Giants 2-1 at the Cardiff Bay Arena on Wednesday but it wasn’t enough to make it through to the final.

Having won the first leg 4-0 Belfast travelled to the Welsh capital with one foot in the final already.

Cardiff took the lead after 15 minutes when Scott Matzka scored, but Brett Hemingway levelled things up for Belfast just two minutes later.

With three minutes left on the clock Kenton Smith put Cardiff back in front on the night to cut Belfast’s aggregate lead to 5-2.

Belfast will play holders Nottingham Panthers in the final after they thumped Newcastle Vipers 18-4 aggregate win over Newcastle Vipers last month.
