Production of the Prince William and Kate Middleton royal wedding coin has started today at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant.
The £5 coin is only the second produced by the Royal Mint to mark a royal wedding – the first was a 20p item made for the nuptials of the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1981.
The design is by portrait sculptor Mark Richards.
More than a quarter of million of the coins will be produced with high demand expected from abroad.
The couple approved the designs, which show the pair in profile facing each other, as has the Queen whose image appears on the reverse.
