A laser was shone at England player Jack Wilshere as he left the field for a replacement during the game, with Ashley Cole also being targeted.

England won the Euro 2012 qualifier by two points to nil.

Adrian Bevington, managing director of the team’s strategy arm Club England, said those involved were “mindless idiots”.

But the FA in England says it will not be lodging an official complaint.

An FAW spokesman said: “We are aware of the incident and we have discussed it with the English FA.

“It is something that will be brought up in the debrief, when we sit down to talk about the game.

“But it’s very difficult because the laser pens are so small and therefore difficult to detect.

“It’s a shame that fans are stupid enough to bring them in.”
