Chris Bryant MP renews calls for News of the World phone-hacking judicial review

The News of the World’s owner has said sorry over the phone hacking scandal and is to set up a compensation fund.

Welsh MP Chris Bryant, who believes his phone was hacked by the paper, has renewed calls for a judicial review

News International says, in some cases, it will apologise and admit liability.

Welsh MP Chris Bryant, who believes he was a victim of phone hacking by the News of the World, has reiterated his call for a judicial review.

The Rhondda MP says he has “anxieties” about previous investigations into phone hacking undertaken by the Metropolitan Police and wants a judicial review.

News International, which owns the newspaper, is offering to pay damages to eight well-known people who brought civil actions claiming their mobile phones were hacked.

Labour MP Mr. Bryant says he wants to know why senior executives at the News of the World did not do a proper investigation and “route out criminality” at the time.
