Fallout from the Grimsvötn volcano in Iceland continues to cause travel misery across the UK, with more flights cancelled today.
The ash cloud has forced the closure of Icelandic airspace, with worried travellers bracing themselves for a repeat of last year’s Eyjafjallajökull eruption, which caused travel chaos worldwide.
However, experts have stressed last year’s level of disruption is not likely to be repeated. Although more powerful, ash from this recent blast appears to be coarser and will therefore fall to earth faster.
Travellers are advised not to panic and to check with their airport and airline before making any travel decisions.
