Henson’s ‘The Bachelor’ move criticised by former teammate

Gavin Henson will star as 'the Bachelor' in Channel 5's UK version of the US show

Gavin Henson’s latest reality TV bid has been criticised by former Ospreys team mates.

Henson, who has previously taken part in reality shows Strictly come Dancing and 71 Degrees North, will be The Bachelor in a UK-version of the hit US programme.

Twenty-five contestants will compete to win the heart of the Wales’ rugby international in the new Channel 5 show.

Last year Henson separated from long term partner Charlotte Church.

Commenting on Twitter Ian Gough (@VanGough4) called for Henson to focus on this year’s World Cup in New Zealand rather than his television career.

Just reading about henson’s new tv thing-is it just me or should he be concentrating on a world cup coming up after being out for 2 years??

A WRU spokesman said that Henson was fulfilling a work commitment made before he was selected for the 45-man preliminary squad for the World Cup.

The spokesman added: “[Henson] has already undergone periods of extra conditioning work and is maintaining constant contact with the WRU’s head of strength and conditioning Adam Beard.”
