Police have confirmed that rescuers working to free four men trapped in the flooded Glesion Colliery mine yesterday have found a third body.
Seven men were trapped after water flooded the drift mine around 9:21am yesterday. Two men escaped without aid, a third man was taken to hospital where he is understood to be in a critical condition. The bodies of three of the four men trapped within the mine have been discovered by rescue services today. The search for the remaining man trapped underground continues.
One man trapped inside the Swansea Valley mine remains unaccounted for.
The families of Phillip Hill, Charles Breslin, David Powell and Garry Jenkins have been informed of the latest discovery and are being supported by police family liaison officers.
