Bodelwyddan man makes plea to keep animal sanctuary dream alive

Its a story that inspires.

Geoff Leedham lost his arm in an accident three years ago. He lost his job and for a time his will to live. But his love of animals brought him back from the brink. He has turned his bungalow home in Bodelwyddan into an animal sanctuary.

Watch Ian’s report at ITV.com/Wales

Walk in and the first thing you see is the front room dedicated to parrots. Its very noisy and amusing as the birds have a range of choice words in their repertoire.  The back garden is a jumble of sheds and pens. Everything from wood pigeons to owls and rabbits.

He clearly loves what  he is doing and has the full support of his wife Shirley.

But it all comes at a cost.

Apart from paying the mortgage, there is the food for the animals and the couple have also converted a car into an ambulance.

There is no shortage of animals that need care-but there is a shortage of funds.

So the future looks uncertain.

They won’t go down without a fight though.
