Airbus opens new high-tech ‘North Factory’ in Broughton

The new 'North Factory' will produce high-tech composite carbon wings

The largest UK factory to be built in the last five years has been officially opened in north Wales.

The new airbus facility will build composite wings for the A350 plane and is thought to be worth around £100million to suppliers in Wales.

Plant Manager Paul Mckinlay said production of the new high-tech wings, the first made from composite carbon rather than aluminium, was good news for north Wales and would secure the future of jobs in the area.

Around 6,000 people are currently employed at the plane manufacturer’s Flintshire base.
