Murder arrest after Bridgend woman’s 2004 holiday fall in India

Police have arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of murder seven years after a woman fell to her death on holiday in India with her husband

Mrs Davies, who is from the Bridgend area, was 39-years-old when she died near the Giri River Bridge, Gaura, Himachal Pradesh, India.

It was believed that she had fallen from a height resulting in fatal injuries.

Mrs. Davies death in 2004 was investigated by the Himachal Pradesh State police where no suspicious circumstances were found at that time. Her body was then repatriated to the UK.

Following a review of the case by SouthWales Police Specialist Crime Investigations Team a man, formerly from Bridgend, was arrested in Milton Keynes.

Detective Inspector Mark Lewis, the Senior Investigating Officer said:

“Whilst I consider this arrest to be a positive development in the investigation I am also appealing for any information surrounding the circumstances of this death.

“Colette’s family have been informed of the arrest and continue to be supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers.”
